Housing Update (Final Stretch)

We are back at house hunting in ernest. After a lot of looking and some compromising, we decided on El Dorado Hills (EDH), California as our new home town. EDH is just outside Sacramento, about 55 miles from Lake Tahoe and nextdoor to Kelly's hometown of Folsom. We had wanted to move further up the I-50 corridor towards Tahoe, but lack of basic services (read: well water and no DSL) and uneven neighborhoods (lot of chicken coops in people's yards) made us gravitate back to outer suburbia.

On the selling front, things have finally been sorted out. All contingencies from the buyer were lifted this morning and we are just waiting to close the sale on the 9th of March. We even secured a rent-back agreement until March 22nd . . .And it looks like we might need it. Although I think we have finally found a place in EDH, we have competition. We put a offer in for the place today but someone else has also offered. We should hear something back tomorrow.

Homeward Bound

Got through the week o' meetings here in Kuala Lumpur and I am just packing to wing back home through Hong Kong. It's a long flight (18 hours) but I am certainly looking for to it. Of course, my travel agency completely botched my tickets (again) so it is not entirely certain that I have a ticket for these flights, but I am confident I can talk my way onto the plane.

To celebrate our last night in KL, Jeff and I went out to Bikat Bintang (a local hotspot) to our favorite watering hole, the BB Plaza Tiger Bar. It's a nice airy, outside bar in the middle of their shopping district.

KL: Petronas Towers

Got into Kuala Lumpur last night after my brief stay-over in Singapore. Had a ton of meeting in the KL office today -- boring but did let me take this photo of the Petronas Towers (used to be tallest buildings in the world) through the meeting room window.

Onwards

Had to bug out today to get to my regional meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Before I left, I made sure and stopped in at a few of my favorite haunts in Sydney. I hit most of them after dark (so no photos :<), but I did make sure and get a good photo of my company's local pub, The Rag and Famish.

Unfortunately, due to some poor travel planning, I have to spend the night here in Singapore (about 1 hour south of KL) before heading in tomorrow. While this does make for one more plane trip, I did want to check out some accessories for my Treo at Funan IT Tower and catch dinner at Clarke Quay.

Woolloomooloo

Got into Sydney yesterday morning after the flight from hell. Arrived late to LAX and got sandwiched into the very last row of the 747 in a middle seat. This wouldn't have been too bad but the seat didn't recline. I hate Qantas.

My day picked up once I actually got into Sydney. It was a balmy 80 degrees at eight in the morning with clear skies. My colleagues took pity on me and decided to take me to my favorite steakhouse, Kingsley's. Kingsley's is cool because they have 20 different kinds of steak and some seafood to boot. It is located in Woolloomooloo (not a typo) which is a rehabiliatated wharf just south of Sydney downtown. Below is a picture from last night:
